In the United States a cop murdered a black man by shooting him in the back, putting him on the ground with as many bullets as he could manage conveniently. He then faked up the crime scene, probably thinking (and quite rightly) that a little bit of stage magic would make the whole thing go away. Unfortunately for the badge wearing murderer the whole thing was caught on video. The only thing that remains is to see exactly how he eventually doesn't face justice. Because he won't. So Greg Barns, barrister, Tasmanian, classical music aficionado and frequenter of the very best restaurants reckons those of us who pulled the pin on the WikiLeaks Party are a bit soft in the head, not real complicated thinkers, a bit stupid, perhaps even slightly working class. RIP Gough Whitlam

Gough Whitlam died today. The important difference between this event and his dismissal from the Prime Ministership in the Australian 1970's? There was no CIA involvement. I was a child in the 1970's. When I was old enough to ask, "What happened? How did that happen?" My elders told me they half expected at the time something like a civil war to break out.
