The Australian Government policy of re-destroying people who've been destroyed continued over the weekend with the news a boatload of humans is out there somewhere floating, as is Scott Morrison's lost fuckheaded soul. What a world! Maybe civilisation is a bad idea if it creates people who behave like domesticated animal arseholes. Maybe cities and nations are just concentration camps where we are free to roam only to check the locks and the perimeter fence like the prison guards we are under our casual hair. Australia started as a jail, so our tendencies as a nation are noted and no mystery, but the jail approach to modern life is worldwide. I'm over it. I can read books. I know other ways exist. So I'm listening to a science show on the radio and the science people start talking about rhesus monkeys being shown coloured squares on a screen to test some ideas and the science radio people start joking around about monkeys wearing little hats and playing cards and I'm thinking, "Hang on, are these monkeys in a lab? Are they captives? What's so fucking funny here?" The ideas being tested related to the idea of a "hot streak" in sport and the science people were tickled pink at the idea of monkeys playing sport and this reminded me of the recent wave of bacon talk on the interwebs. Remember that? Large numbers of people started going on about bacon and it was getting kind of creepy? Like, what kind of point are you people making here? I mean, I like bacon too but I don't go on and on about it because of the unsettling facts of where it comes from. The 2014 Australian Federal Budget has quite rightly been met with howls of despair: People with mental illnesses will kill themselves. Old people will be fast tracked to the scrap heap. The other night students interrupted the live broadcast of Q and A, a panel show moderated by one of those little boys you see on a historical water fountain, Tony Jones. The audience is permitted to ask questions of the panel and it’s all a bunch of skull-imploding bullshit with very little bearing on anything other than my fucking nerves. I stopped watching months and months ago to lower the risk of my window shattering outwards as a TV sailed into the street. This show is infuriating in it’s smug denial of any person or thing outside the world of people Tony Jones could lunch with comfortably. I don’t want to make this a Tony Jones hate fest, he’s got a job to do and that is to act as a gate keeper of democracy. This was made very clear when the protesters made only one person angry: Tony.
