RIP Gough Whitlam

Gough Whitlam died today. The important difference between this event and his dismissal from the Prime Ministership in the Australian 1970's? There was no CIA involvement. I was a child in the 1970's. When I was old enough to ask, "What happened? How did that happen?" My elders told me they half expected at the time something like a civil war to break out. People were devastated, they were enraged, they were also electrified.

The United States of America, to put it bluntly, includes Australia as a remote colony, an outpost. When Gough Whitlam threatened Pine Gap the CIA had to get involved. Pine Gap, located in remote Australia, is a key asset to United States air and space superiority.

Many Australians are excited to be part of an Imperial power structure. Many powerful Australians are over the moon at the opportunity to be included in US games of global domination. Whether conspiracy, madness or just weakness, many Australians were quite happy for the US to take the steering wheel in the 1970's, dictate our future. Since World War 2 the USA have done this again and again as nations around the world sought their own future. In these moments of popular dissent, people behind the scenes, the CIA, step in and pull the strings.

Today, Greg Sheridan, on 774 radio in Melbourne, felt that today was the day to smear Gough Whitlam. I don't know if Gough Whitlam was a great man, I don't really care, but it was amazing that a respectable member of the establishment chose the day of any man's death to take a shit on the norms of civil discourse. The day of the death of a 98 year old man who was stripped of his Prime Ministership in hyper-controversial circumstances? That can't be the right time. But the job of a wormtongue like Greg Sheridan on a day like today is exactly to muddy the waters, confuse minds, fill the air with rubbish.

Unlike those of the Left who sometimes have to guess what happened in those days, Greg Sheridan knows exactly what happened. This is what frightens him, because the day of the death of a man removed from his Prime Ministership is the day to speak the truth of a CIA backed coup in an English speaking nation, a strong ally of the United States of America.

The irony of Team America is that their interventions in nations around the world are always a disaster for democracy and they are surely meant to be so, for the simple reason that they don't wish to see democracy, freedom, falling into the wrong hands. The megaphones of the USA speak of protecting and defending freedom and democracy around the world because they can't talk about nurturing these things. Even they are incapable of pulling off such an open lie.

So it's another sad day for Australia, in a year of sad days under the backwards, poisonous governance of wreckers and ruiners, slaves to US Imperialism. Neocons.

(Again, how ironic is it that Occupy in Hong Kong has lasted longer and is stronger than it ever was in the "West"?)

Maybe, perhaps, Gough Whitlam was a hero, but you don't need to be a hero to get the attention of the CIA, all you have to do is begin to take seriously the ideas of democracy and freedom and the CIA will open a file on you. They will have identified you as an enemy, because you are the enemy, you are The People.

RIP Gough Whitlam.

  1. Yep all true Bedlam. Is it the start of an new era, the end of an old one, or just another day in which the CIA handsuckers like Henderson continue their rule over us, the compliant jellybacked beneficiaries of endrun capitalism.
